Mattias Lies’ live show has taken him to several of Sweden’s best venues. After an intense songwriting period, he is now touring some great new material and cooperation with the Co-producer behind the success of “Messages” - Magnus Bergman, is once again in the air.
“Messages”, the second studio effort of Mattias Lies was slated for release in the late autumn 2008. The difference between the self-titled debut (ISMA:2006) and “Messages” are just as big as the similarity is obvious. The debut was a blend of many styles - world music, jazz, pop and folk, with Swedish lyrics, gaining a lot of attention on Swedish radio and television.
The new album is more focused on the American rock/ folk legacy of Tom Petty, Neil Young and R.E.M., where Lies reflects upon fortune, a changing world and an altering state of mind.
The album contains twelve songs with twelve different messages, each one is dedicated to people whom Lies got in touch with along his very own way of life. Now the lyrics are in English – the still recognizable voice of Mattias Lies but with a new, fresh viewpoint and his always very personal perspective.
Lies explains that his skill as a songwriter is always progressing, changing in phases. This time around his influences also include British pop-icons Blur and legendary American rocker Jackson Browne and some of these exciting new songs will be appearing in his upcoming live performances.
Throughout the 40+ stages on which Lies has performed live since the release of “Messages” in October 2008, CC Puben (Gävle) and Scharinska (Umeå) are among some of the highlights. At spring 2010, he even performed at the Ejendals Arena to a crowd of 4000+ and the list goes on…

PRESENTATION OF THE BAND
Mattias Lies – lead vocals, acoustic guitar & mandolin
Mats Gesar – electric guitar
A very routine lead guitarist who’s been playing with great artists such as Mats Leven.
Staffan Lindfors – electric bas, contra bas & backing vocals
Staffan is also playing in the Swedish folk group Östen med resten as well as with the folksinger Sofia Karlsson.
Åke Wänn – organ, piano, Wurlitzer and Rhodes piano & backing vocals
Åke is one of the original members of the Swedish progressive band Elda med höns, wich had their peak during the “green wave era” of Sweden in the 1970´s.
Magnus Andersson – drums
Magnus is a grooving drummer who just got home from USA where he’s been playing with different bands, the Black Rose Junction is one of them.
